How to care for your jewelry

Daily Care

Do not wear jewelry all the time

Do not wear your jewelry in the spa, pool, hot tub or sauna.

Although it’s “waterproof” doesn’t mean it’s recommended to wear jewelry all the time everywhere. Sweat, skin care products, perfume, hairspray or cleaning products can discolor or even damage jewelry, including the metal.

Don’t sleep in your jewelry

Gold and Silver are soft metals, it’s normal to get scratches. Delicate pieces need to be handled with extra care, as they can easily be bent.

All stones can chip or break

This is true even for diamonds.

Patina will wear off

Black patina on silver jewelry will wear away over time, as the surface treatment rubs off. This is completely normal and makes the piece more individual.

Cleaning

Don't accidentally damage your jewelry

Do not use polishing cloths on patina that’s used as a design element to make certain features stand out. A jewelry polishing cloth will remove the patina and the piece may look much less interesting after.

Do not use an ultrasonic cleaner, as it can damage certain stones and organic materials, like pearls or opal.

Do this instead

Do use a small dish to clean your jewelry in, you don’t want to go diving into the drain to find that earring.

Do use dish soap with warm water and a soft toothbrush to clean your jewelry. Rinse and dry after cleaning.

Storage

Moisture makes silver and gold alloys tarnish. Keep them in a dry place

Keep your jewelry in a dark place. Some stones and organic materials can be damaged or fade if left in the sun for extended periods.
